About Us

The Indigenous People of Ambazonia (IPOA) are the original inhabitants and owners of the lands and communities of Ambazonia spanning centuries of tradition and historical ancient cultural ties. Ambazonia means the hinter zones of Ambas Bay. They are presently located in the areas called NW and SW of the Franco Cameroon construct. They are simply under occupation, servitude and modern day slavery under the Ahidjo – Biya controlled Cameroonian regime. They have over 6 decades been going through a genocide in slow motion brought to them by their occupiers.

The IPOA strives to bring all Ambazonians together irrespective of their position on autonomy / Sovereignty enshrined within the AU and UN frameworks to work together towards resolving the current Cameroon – Ambazonia conflict once and for all. Our position is not opinion led but rather research based.

The Purpose of the Indigenous People of Ambazonia (IPOA):

The Indigenous People of Ambazonia (IPOA) was founded on the 9th of January 2017 by The Right Honourable Dr Florentin Fonche on instruction from God the Almighty and with the unique mission of using all available civilised means including diplomacy and other internationally acceptable approaches to bring freedom to the suffering and persecuted Indigenous People of Ambazonia (IPOA). On that day several communication channels were also founded and created by the Rt Hon Dr Florentin Fonche. They include IPOA TV, IPOA Radio & TV, Radio Ambazonia (RA), IPOA Radio, IPOA Radio Station, Ambazonia Radio (AR), Ambazonia Radio Station. The Rt Hon Dr Florentin Fonche inaugurated the IPOA TV on the 16th of January 2017 by posting the first video of the IPOA TV on its YouTube Channel. This YouTube Channel came under severe attacks from hackers and enemies of truth and on or after the 25th of January 2021 our IPOA TV YouTube account was suspended by YouTube. We have gone ahead to setup other TV Channels.

IPOA is to act as a forum where the peoples voices and stakeholder’s in the struggle for freedom and the vision of their country of tomorrow can be properly represented. From inception it had a Leadership Council founded by the Rt Hon Dr Florentin Fonche. On the 5th April 2021 the Leadership Council of the Indigenous People of Ambazonia (IPOA) was transformed into the Indigenous People of Ambazonia’s Governing Council (IPOA-GovC).

A Brief History:

The birth of the IPOA is striving to awaken the intellectual consciousness of all patriotic Ambazonians in the fight for Freedom, Justice and Peace for homeland. This process began galvanising alot of energy and steam as far back as in 1984 after La Republique du Cameroun attempted to officially and in a hasty move assimilate Ambazonia through culture, dismantling its unique educational system and by forcefully occupying its territory. Cameroon reverted to its name prior to Independence but failed to allow Ambazonia revert to their own Independent State.

Today Indigenous Ambazonians have risen against all odds to peacefully stop the genocide and persecution metted against them by Cameroon. IPOA seeks to educate the populace on the road map to peace, involve chapters within its movement towards helping to alleviate the health and humanitarian situation which is worsening due to the forceful occupation and ongoing war in Ambazonia.

We are working towards achieving a negotiated consensus amongst all Ambazonians (also refered to as Anglophones or people of the NW and SW regions / West Cameroon / Southern Cameroons by Cameroon and other entities including Non State Actors) irrespective of their position on autonomy and sovereignty. The end result is to achieve a meaningful and just peace through a Negotiated Settlement with Cameroon. Ambazonia and Cameroon must resolve the root causes of the problems and that includes hammering the terms of Union. IPOA is here to play a major role in this process and would welcome support from international Organisations such as the UN, AU, EU, and countries like France, Great Britain, American, Germany and all other States with interest to Peace.
